Hunt around for the best prices. Try and be flexible with your dates. Make sure you book flights that you can change if you need to at a latter point without being hit with a large penalty charge.

For relatively little expense give yourself peace of mind. Compare the price for an annual policy to just taking out cover for the duration of your trip. It’ll probably work out cheaper especially as there is a good chance you will catch the travel bug and be off travelling again before the year is out!

The Right Equipment
Splash out on a decent backpack. Believe us - it will save you serious back ache when you are halfway round the world!

Another must is a sturdy pair of hiking boots for climbing the Fox Glacier or for long days out trekking. Kathmandu have a great selection at good prices.
An essential purchase is a First Aid Kit... Ensure you always have a good supply of plasters to guard against the inevitable blister or the cut you suffer whilst stumbling out of a bar after one too many late night drinks! Better to be prepared. There are some great first aid kits on the market that will not take up much room in your backpack. A Reliable Camera
Ensure you capture those once in a lifetime picture opportunities to share with your friends and family back home (using the Lazy Shark photo album!) with a decent camera. Kodak Shop have an excellent range.

Stay in touch with those at home without spending a fortune on the phone. Sun Tan Cream
As the Aussies put it ‘Slip, Slap, Slop’. Don’t ruin your travels by getting burnt. Get along to your nearest pharmacy or supermarket to get some good quality suncream. Equip yourself with a couple of different factors so your body can get used to any hotter climates that you may be travelling, especially for those of you backpacking Australia and venturing to the baking heat of Uluru!
