Palmerston North New Zealand is one of the larger towns in the North Island. It is very student focused and as a result has a great nightlife. The Palmerston North bars are plentiful in supply with many different themed nights to keep you entertained. In terms of accommodation, the Palmerston North hostels are all fairly central and up to a good standard. If you enjoy culture then you will be easily satisfied with the museums and beautiful rose gardens. There are some original stores built in the 1920s and 1930s that function as restored boutiques, cafes and some delicious restaurants. If you like art then the Te Manawa gallery is perfect for this. For those that love sport, you'll find the Rugby Museum hard to resist. If walking is what you enjoy then soak up some magical scenery at the Manawatu Gorge. Palmerston North is certainly worth a visit but you only really need a couple of nights before feeling it is time to move on.
